Surrey County Cricket Club plan to develop the Lock and Laker Stands and part of the Peter May Stand by constructing a large 170 bed hotel on this area. Due to the detrimental affect the proposal will have on neighbouring residents, we do not think that he proposed design is right for the area. One Example of the inappropriateness of the Proposed Design: The service entrance for the hotel will be in Kennington Oval right in front of Lohmann House. This will mean:
Clause 3.10 of the Transport Assessment dismisses this by stating that 'Overall there is a fairly consistent two-way flow of between 19 and 36 trips per hour throughout the day. These flows will be insignificant to the number trips and even daily fluctuation in trips in the surrounding area.' While these vehicles may not be noticed by the general traffic on Harleyford Road they will be noticed by residents of Lockwood and Lohmann Houses and the entire Kennington Park Estate. The extra traffic on local roads will decrease pedestrian safety and increase noise levels due to the location of the parking entrance and the vehicle delivery bays. This is not recognised by the Study as an impact.
